From May to July 2020, the principal architect of RSAA/ Büro Zhuang Ziyu, Zhuang Ziyu was invited to participate in a number of academic activities, including the speech at Shanghai Jiao Tong University on May 16th; and final evaluation online of MIT course “Urban Hacking Chengdu” on May 19th; on June 14th, the speech of RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Opening Ceremony for China Branch· Shanghai Station, and on July 16th, online conversation with Mexican architect Frida Escobedo López hosted by Archiworld.

Speech at Shanghai Jiao Tong University

In May 2020, the Department of Architecture, School of Design, Shanghai Jiao Tong University invited Zhuang Ziyu to give an online lecture on "Chinese Forms to Chinese Narratives". At the same time, the event was attended by academic convenors Fan Wenbing and Zhang Haiao, and observers Wang Zigeng, Huang Yuanshao, Zhu Qipeng, and Liu Kenan. Taking this opportunity, Zhuang Ziyu and the architects will share their practical and research experiences with everyone.

On May 19th, 2020, Zhuang Ziyu was invited to participate in the final online evaluation of the course "Urban Hacking Chengdu: Activating New Development in China" co-sponsored by the MIT, Luxelake A8 Design Center and JWDA . The study uses Luxelake A7 Hotel Island as a sample space to explore the collaboration and interaction between the real world and the virtual world, using interactive devices and gamification experiences to activate real spaces and community participation. Based on the results of this research, the A8 Design Center will go deeper and explore the feasibility of practical applications in the future based on position and business strategies of A7 Hotel Island.

RIBA Opening Ceremony for China branch

△Hello China Seminar

On June 14th, 2020, RIBA held the opening ceremony for the China branch at the Capella Hotel in Jianyeli, Shanghai. It’s an academic seminar with the theme of "sustainable architectural creation and environmental design". This theme comes from RIBA's overall plan for the next 12 months-Hello China. At the same time, the units participating in this event include the College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University, the British Consulate General in Shanghai, The China-Britain Business Council, Capella Group, Greenland Group, Forte Group, Vanke Group, etc.

Conversation with Frida Escobedo

On July 16th, 2020, Zhuang Ziyu with architects Qi Shanshan and Zhao Yang, participated in an online interview in the Archiworld interview column, and had a deeply online conversation with Mexican female architect Frida Escobedo, the designer of the Serpentine Gallery in London. The conversation focused on the public space design, and shared the views and creative ideas on topic.
